The Hyundai Omicron engine is a 4.9 L 90° V8 diesel engine from Hyundai Motor Company. The all-new engine incorporates Bosch extremely high-pressure (2,500 bar) fuel injection and twin variable geometry turbochargers. Designed in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, it is South Korea's first mass-produced V8 diesel engine in a production Hyundai/Kia car (excluding Hyundai trucks). It is only available on larger Hyundai Motor Company cars. It takes its name from the Greek letter omicron (Greek: Ω). Hyundai Motor Company's other engines also named for Greek letters (see: List of Hyundai engines.)

The engine has low-friction forged pistons and forged cast iron crankshaft.

Engine produces 448 hp at 2800 rpm, and 964 N⋅m (711 lb⋅ft) at 1600 rpm. The first 1,000 engines were made at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Mannheim, Germany, due to the too far distance between Germany and South Korea, the engines are now built in South Korea. The fuel injection system are made by Robert Bosch GmbH in Germany, and shipped to South Korea with 8 injectors. Idle speed is 687 rpm.
