I would like to cordially introduce myself...[edit]

My name is Kelsey Kenny and I am 18 years old. I grew up in a small town called Lilburn, located in the Gwinnett County which is east of Atlanta, Georgia. While there, I was apart of the "Parkview High School (Lilburn, Georgia) cluster". While at Parkview, I participated in several sports, clubs and organizations offered at the school. I played volleyball for all four years on all three levels (9th grade, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) and cheered for the Junior Varsity basketball squad for two years. I joined the club Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) to meet new people and give back to my community. In this club, we made blankets for newborns of poorer families, helped the victims of the local flood have a happy Christmas by donating presents off their wishlist, and donated with the local food drives around our community. Also, I was involved with the organization called Volunteer Parkview. We were required to have a certain number of hours of volunteer work but no limitations how many we wished to participate in.

Scholarly achievements[edit]

Starting off in elementary school, I tested into the gifted part of my school cluster. During these class periods, the teacher's main focus was to stretch our minds a little bit more and test our limits to see what we could and couldn't do, logic-wise. The program was called FOCUS for grades Kindergarten through Fifth. In middle school, the program was called PROBE. These classes were offered as a regular school course (i.e. Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Math) but the coursework for the class was much more rigorous and at a higher level. The PROBE classes I took in middle school were Language Arts and Social Studies. While apart of this program, I was given the opportunity to take trips to different parts of Georgia to explore my learning and give me a chance to step outside of the box, taking what I have learned and applying that knowledge to daily life. While in high school, I stayed apart of the gifted program in Language Arts, but decided to challenge myself and take Advanced Placement(AP) Social Studies courses. Throughout my four years of high school, I took AP World History, United States History, American Government and Psychology. Advanced Placement gives students the credits and courses needed to graduate at a college class level and pace. Also, my last year at Parkview High School (Lilburn, Georgia), I participated in the Business Procedures internship. This gives students the opportunity to work in office-related surroundings where you are given more responsibility and trust than the other students at school. I was responded to the Administrative Officers at my school and was required to complete the different tasks that I was asked to do by the officers. Whether it be run errands, fill out disciplinary forms or write-ups or organize files for their next meeting, it was my job to get it done by the end of the day. I have a GPA of 3.477 and was recently granted the State of Georgia's scholarship called HOPE.

Where I'm headed[edit]

Currently, I am a freshman at Georgia Southern University. As of right now, my major is Undeclared. However, in the fall, I am taking classes on Criminal Justices to see if I truly enjoy the science field of Forensics. I would like to transfer to Florida State University in two to three years to further my career and studies across the borders, into another country.

I am still learning...[edit]

Yes, I am still learning the in's and out's of a computer, which can be a process since techology changes everyday. While in high school, I took computer application courses. In these classes, I learned how to create and manipulate different Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents. This basic training helped me be more successful in my working atmosphere, where I had to organize different amounts of data and load it onto the computer. Also, while taking the Business Procedures internship, I was able to utilize these skills when organizing other information for my Administrative Officer.

Wikipedia? Since When?[edit]

I started using Wikipedia when I learned how to surf the internet. It was a search engine that gave me the information needed without the extra "stuff" you sometimes get with other search engines. I used the site for projects, papers and my own personal curiosities. Unfortunately, two years before I graduated, my high school saw Wikipedia as "evil" almost, and banned the website's accessibility through the school's network. Teachers refused to take any work that was researched through Wikipedia, but I still enjoyed it for my own personal research and curiosity. I have grown to love Wikipedia, even though it was frowned upon at my school. I mean it truly when I say I am excited to use this website to it's fullest!

Additions I've made[edit]

During the short time I've been a user on Wikipedia, I've contributed to my high school's wiki page, Parkview High School (Lilburn, Georgia). I am currently in the process of creating the Wikipedia page, House Rules, which is a book I am reading by Jodi Picuolt.

Languages[edit]

As of right now, I use American English. But in my future, I would like to know the Spanish language as well.
