The Capital and strategy[edit]

The War Department, and particularly Lincoln, consistently required its field commanders to defend the Capital at all times. These commanders had to take this into consideration in their planning, and not doing so (in the eyes of their civilian leadership) always had consequences. Among some of the best examples of the government's sensitivity to the protection of Washington and its effects are visible during the Peninsula Campaign of 1862 and the Gettysburg Campaign of 1863.

Rankine and Walk assembled eleven mostly co-written tracks and in doing so put together an album absolutely worth the effort and money it takes to enjoy... And then there is Rankine’s voice, the centerpiece of this lovely album. Once again, it is perfectly timed precisely arranged and perfectly placed... Bravo to Rankine and Walk... Salt Peter is a wonderful album, and serves as a great bridge from the electronically enhanced rock of Garbage to more adventurous contemporary trip-hop acts.[3]
