Mason and Dixon is the seventh byway in the Maryland Scenic Byways program, which takes travelers through northern Maryland near the Pennsylvania border. It takes its name from the line established by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon during surveying they perform to settle land disputes between Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Virginia. The byway largely traces a path through rural Maryland, and portions of it comprise portions of four other byways in the area: #6: Old Main Streets, #8: Falls Road, #9: Horses and Hounds, and #10: Lower Susquehanna.
