Kalya Kalleshwara Temple 1540CE Singaraja's Timmaraja Donation Inscription[edit]

This Inscription is situated in Magadi Taluk, in the Ramanagara District. The inscription is written in both Kannada scrip and Language antedate to 1540CE. This Inscription gives us information about the donation that was made by Singaraja on the Presence and Orders of God Kalleshwara to Timmaraja.

Discovery and Dating[edit]

This Inscription was discovered Recently On the Boulder to the south of the temple entrance by the Mythic Society Bengaluru Inscriptions 3D Digital conservation Project team and Examined the same And published the Inscription in Quarterly Journal of the Mythic Society Vol 113 Issue 2 2022 43

Characteristics of the Inscription[edit]

The Inscription is 91 cm tall and 301 cm wide consisting of 0.4 cm deep, while the typical characters sized with 8.1 cm tall, 9.3 cm wide and 0.4 cm deep into the boulder. This inscription is carved in Kannada language and the Kannada script. The Inscription was found on the boulder of the temple’s Entrance.

The Transliteration of the text of the inscription in Kannada and IAST as given in Quarterly Journal of the Mythic Society (QJMS) VOL 113 2 2022 43 is :

Summary of the Inscription[edit]

Singaraja’s Timmaraja Donation Inscription gives us information about the donation that was made by Singaraja on the Presence and orders of God Kalleshwara, where the latter grants one Kanduga land of Kuppayya to the east of the Vamanamudra stone and one Kanduga of wetland near the lake to Timmaraja. This Inscription was Penned by Chavadi Viregowda Furthermore, Disregarding this Grant will draw in a similar Sin as Killing of a Cow In Varanasi.
