Peterborough-born Lianne Hall started writing songs in her teens, occasionally copying them for friends on cassettes. Following a spell in the Yorkshire jazz punk noise outfit Witchknot, Lianne came to John Peel’s attention when started making acoustic folk tracks in the late 90s. John featured Lianne on his Channel 4 programme ‘Sounds from the Suburbs’ and she subsequently recorded 4 Peel sessions with a variety of collaborators including bedroom electronic producer Andy Wills, as Pico. Lianne released her first full length album, Abandon Ship, in 2006. Subsequently, she collaborated with Paul Hartnoll from Orbital on The Ideal Condition in 2007, followed by an album in 2009 with Newcastle producers d_rradio called Making Spaces and another solo record, Crossing Wires. Lianne has been described by John Peel as “one of the great English voices[1]” .
