Leighanne Bennett[edit]

Thank you for visiting my page. As a mother of four girls, I definitely value myself as mother first and foremost. My interests and activities mostly consist of outdoor activities such as hiking, running, and fishing. I recently moved to the Pacific Northwest and currently enjoying the wide variety of hiking trails. From the deserts of Arizona to the treks of Washington State, I am enjoying the climate and environment change, because it definitely is a change. Running came from an early age. I am Native American and from my cultural history, my tribe has been known to be great runners. I have been apart of two Ragnar races and run about 20 miles per week. Fishing is very therapeutic to me as well. I grew up fishing and spending my time with my family on the lake and often take my children.

Utilizing a graat resource such as Wikipedia has ballooned my interests in so many topics. The most topics I am passionate about it woman' rights and Indigenous Rights. Also, I have been moved by DAPL movement that has affected not only my tribe but relative tribes. I would like to research more about the sources and views of the opposed.

Article Critique[edit]

I recently took an art class in which we dabbled in to a little calligraphy, therefore, sparking my interest in calligraphy. I was taught there are many forms of calligraphy and many people contributed by developing different types and forms. I decided to research Mr. Edward Johnston because of his beautiful type of calligraphy. I visited the Edward Johnston page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: It had very little history regarding his life, it lacked citations, and had only a few publication links.

History[edit]

Edward Johnston was an inventor of the modern calligraphy form. He attended many notable colleges when he entered the United States. I found that there should have been more history included considering he was well noted and appraised for his work. Therefore, I commented in the talk section about this comment.

Citations[edit]

Another thing that caught my attention was the lack of citations(which i also mentioned in the talk section). There were only a couple that deemed notable. Overall, it lacked citations which limited my research. I think without these citations, it is difficult to go get reliable information regarding Mr. Edward Johnston.

Publications[edit]

Upon finding little history and profile information. I was trying to find the work of Edward Johnston and could not. I found a few links to a couple pictures and publications but other than that, there no links to his publications. You would think that if someone had such an impact on calligraphy, there would be an abundant amount of links to his publications.

Conclusion[edit]

In conclusion, I feel that Mr. Edward Johnston should be more recognized considering the work and contributions he made to the art and history of calligraphy. First by adding to his profile and giving readers a better understanding into his personal life as well as his life in other countries he resided in. By creating more citations and links to his publications it would make researching Mr. Johnston a little easier. More links to his publications would help any researcher or reader gain knowledge about his work and actually see his work. I think this information is important in any Wikipedia page.
