As a leader in the library community, I have grown passionate about programming, outreach, and advocacy. To that end, I attended the American Library Association's 2017 Leadership Institute, the Mississippi Library Commission's 2014 Library Leadership Institute, and various community-focused leadership programs. My goal in enrolling had been to be part of a cohort group for networking and support; what I emerged with was a new perspective on my role and the role of my team when it came to the importance of public libraries in the 21st Century. My professional aspiration, my sincere desire, is to move the image of the public library and public librarians from its dusty to past and place it firmly in the forefront of American thought as a Community Center, and all that encompasses.

My Skillset With over a decade of experience in public and special libraries, I have developed a keen awareness of the public relations, marketing, and outreach needs libraries must address to ensure the success of their institution. Through strong leadership skills, the development of collaborative environments, and establishing best practices, I believe that all library staff can become de facto library advocates and community leaders.

My Goals I believe that the role of a librarian is to safeguard every individual's right to free and unbiased information. I believe that libraries are community centers, literacy hubs, technology mechas, and that with the right message, excellent community engagement, and empowered staff, that libraries will exist long into the future.
