Colonel Robert Morris;

Colonel Robert Morris is a Member of the Rockabilly and Traditional Country Hall of Fame. He is a two time hall of famer in both the "Rockabilly" Hall of Fame and also in the "Traditional Country" Hall of Fame and is a true Rockabilly icon as well as being a Hall of Fame Songwriter.


Early Years;

Colonel Robert Morris was born Robert Neil Morris on December 12th, 1954. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Morris cites his mother and her encouragement as his earliest influence. As a child, Colonel Robert taught himself to play the drums, by filling cans with different levels of water, to accomplish pitch. By the time he was a teenager, Colonel Robert was a working musician, working the "juke joints," in and around Memphis. As his reputation spread he became known as a "Master Drummer," and his talents were recruited by Jerry Lee Lewis, Charlie Rich, Ronnie Milsap, Dottie West, Cordell Jackson, and Charlie Feathers, among many other bands. After years on the road, Morris found himself a Rockabilly icon. Robert was part of the world famous "Memphis Sound"


The 70's, Country Goes Outlaw;

Then the 70's found Colonel Robert touring with Charlie Feathers and other legends. Robert was helping to create a country sound that was gritty and real. Johnny Paycheck, Waylon and Outlaw Country was hot, while George Jones and Mel Street was teaching the world how to cheat, one song at a time. But Robert's music and life was not through changing yet. In 1988, Robert was given a cameo role in the Finnish movie, "Leningrad Cowboys Go America," an instant cult classic.

Colonel Robert started writing and recording his own material, finding success with his hit song, "The Trucker's Last Ride," a song that still enjoys air play in Country Music today.

Though he has written many styles of music since, the cheating and drinking songs he played drums on, never left him, and are his favorite kind to write.

Now after thirty years of twang guitars & whiskey soaked bars, he has lived the songs that he writes!

In June of 2008 the Colonel released, "Highway Hero" a trucking CD!

Colonel Robert included on the CD a song that is close to his heart. "Mother's Hall Of Fame" was co-written by Mr. Charlie Louvin. It a haunting bluegrass story.


The Songwriter;

To date, Colonel Robert Morris has well over 800 songs in his catalog, including the classics: "Truckers Last Ride" "If These Old Walls Could Talk" "Highway Hero" "Rockabilly Town" " and " Midnight With Elvis",a homage to the King that Morris knew so well. Colonel Morris has literally had hit songs around the globe, The US, Germany, Austria, Holland and Australia have all had Robert Morris songs on their charts. Colonel Robert is the founder of Silver Dollar Music. He currently resides in Senatobia, Mississippi.

In the late 1990s, Cordell co-wrote and played with Colonel Robert Morris in Memphis. Colonel Robert also helped edit the book based on her life and career. June 14, 2008 was the release date for "Highway Hero" his new trucking CD.

Colonel Robert co-wrote a song with Grand Ole Opry Star & Songwriter's Hall Of Fame Inductee, Charlie Louvin called "Mother's Hall of Fame", a song which Colonel Robert Morris has included on his "High Hero" CD


Now it's 2010;

Charlie Louvin has passed on to Colonel Robert, one of Charlie's personal guitars. Both legends agree that there is a spirit that lives on in a songwriter's guitar, and they want Charlie's spirit to be in the songs Robert writes with this guitar.

Caylan Hascall drove all the way from Charlie's home outside of Nashville to Colonel Robert's home in N. Mississippi, to deliver the guitar by hand. Colonel Robert is now the editor for the "Traditional Country Hall Of Fame". 


Awards and Accolades;

The Music world has bestowed many honors on Colonel Robert Morris. He has been inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, and The Traditional Country Hall of Fame, as well as being a Hall of Fame Songwriter. Colonel Robert Morris was presented with the Pioneers Lifetime Achievement Award, The Mississippi State Governors Award, Tennessee State Governors Award, The keys to the city of Memphis, and made a Tennessee State Colonel in 2000. Colonel Robert was also included in the 2008 & 2009 Marquis Who's Who In America. Robert also had a cameo role in the Finnish film, Leningrad Cowboys Go America.
