#makeschoolasaferplace is a social movement against sexual harassment in Malaysian schools. The movement began when a 17-year-old student, Ain Husniza, posted a TikTok video exposing the inappropriate comments and "jokes" made by her male physical education teacher in class.
Ain's video went viral and sparked a nationwide debate on sex education and sexual harassment in the nation.[1] The debate had led to Ain creating the hashtag, #makeschoolasaferplace, which had went viral in various social media platforms, with people supporting Ain's movement and some sharing their experiences of similar incidents in school. [2] However, she had received backlash from some of her schoolmates and teachers, as well as netizens posting threatening comments on the Internet.

On 23 April 2021, a male physical education (Pendidikan Jasmani dan Kesihatan in Malay), who had been explaining about sexual harassment to the class, made some inappropriate rape jokes in the class. According to Ain's TikTok video, initially the jokes were normal, but it slowly turns weirder and sensitive. While discussing about the laws that protect minors from sexual abuse, the teacher commented, "so if you guys want to rape someone, don't rape the girls who are under 18, rape those who are above." According to Ain, the boys were laughing, while the girls remained silent. The teacher even went further by saying that if the boys were raped, they will not report it because it feels good to them.[3]
Ain posted the video on TikTok and Twitter, and she tagged the former Malaysian Education Minister, Maszlee Malik, political cartoonist Zunar, the Ministry of Education and celebrity Adibah Noor for their attention on this issue. [4]
Ain's video came at the time when several schools in the nation were revealed to have "period spot checks" to prove that the students are having periods and couldn't perform ritual prayers (which isn't allowed in Islam), which sparks public anger.[5]

Ain complained to her school's counsellor, but was gaslighted by her teacher when he told her that teenage boys liked to make crude jokes but not to take it to heart while the girls are "sensitive and emotional". With the support of her parents, Ain filed a report to the police. [6][3]
Ain filed another police report when some of her male classmates were threatening to rape her in a boys group chat. Ain stop going to school after her parents were worried about her safety. The report was later classified as
