From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parasol's is a restaurant and bar located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The locally celebrated hang-out was founded in 1952 by native New Orleanians Louis and Myrtle Passauer (now Myrtle Scaffidi). During the time of the original ownership, the location served as both a commercial venue and the residence of the Passauer family.

Parasol's is known for its roast-beef po-boys. This particular menu item was the feature of an episode of FoodNetwork's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Seafood Po-Boys are also served, as they are a traditional staple food of New Orleans.

For some time, the traditional recipes were discarded in favor of more commercially available ingredients, but current management has returned to the traditional ways of making New Orleans' favorites.

Parasol's is also known for its Saint Patrick's Day Block party. Most locals consider Parasol's to be "Ground Zero" for the local Saint Patrick's day celebration. The area surrounding Parasol's is locally known as "The Irish Channel", noting the abundance of Irish immigrants who settled there.
