Intro[edit]

I am a college freshman at Georgia Southern University a mid-sized coastal Georgia school. I have always had a strong interest in theater. Currently majoring in environmental biology.

Hobby, crocheting like an old lady, my grandmother taught me when I was young. She also taught me to knit but with time I've developed a preference for crochet. I like to read a lot, a whole lot, but I often don't have much time. Often on breaks for holidays and summer or on slow weekends when I can, I get through a couple books a day depending on the book and my motive for reading it as well as the amount of free time I have.

When I was twelve I placed second in my age group for girls shot put but I was unable to make it to my award ceremony due to a severe kidney infection that put me in the hospital. In middle school I joined the orchestra and played the viola and becoming first chair for all three years. Although I always preferred the cello I didn't keep up with it because my parents didn't want to spend the money buying me my own, their reasoning being "you already own a viola, why do you need another instrument". During my middle school years I also picked up playing the piano, violin, guitar, bass, and drums none of which I am too terribly talented at.

My mom was a teacher which made her a target for organizations to ask her to help out with community service as a chaperon or just to donate etc. Through her taking me along to these events grew my love for philanthropy. Even when my mom began to become less involved I still went to every event that I could. I've participated in numerous river clean up projects, dozens of support walks and to this day I raise money and participate in Relay for Life annually. Another motive I have for these programs is the amount of people I have lost. I have a really big family and as well I know a lot of people and with such a big population of people I have been close to too many tragedies for one person. All the way from all types of cancer to diabetes, car wreck, drowning, suicide, SIDS, skull crushed by a four-wheeler, hit by a drunk driver, heart disease, and many more that did not lead to death but are still very troublesome or painful, spinal injury, premature birth, sickle cell, hypothyroid, learning disabilities and more. This is not just a list of bad situations, for every condition I have either a family member or close friend that has succumb or is dealing with it.

Origination[edit]

I speak and write two languages fluently. English and Spanish. I was born in America, Pascagoula, Mississippi to be exact, but my mother is Honduran so I lived there with family in the capital Tegucigalpa for four years when I was younger enabling me to pick up the language and a natural accent. I am a dual citizen of both countries. Being able to speak two languages interchangeably has blessed me from developing the southern accent one would expect from me for having lived in the south for so much of my life.

Tech Savvy?[edit]

Some may say she is a prodigy, taught herself to build computers at age 8. Since she has taken numerous advanced computer courses, building countless websites and designing several original 3d-animated games. And yet still can only type 30 words a minute.

She also decided to narrate this section in third person, like a news anchor.

Random "I Like"s[edit]

I am not what you would call a "girly girl". I love football, college and professional even sometimes high school (back in the day), ultimate fighter (none of that fake WWE crap), I can build a computer, rebuild a car, and speaking of fixing cars, I have. I rebuilt a 1987 IrocZ camaro from the ground up and have been driving it in full health for three years now.

This user prefers American Muscle over any of that foreign crap.

I was a full-on Harry Potter fan on the side as a kid and this has lead me to my hands down favorite YouTube video, well musical, of which inspired my first Wikipedia article, A Very Potter Musical

Contributions to Wikipedia[edit]

A favorite project of mine that I began because I felt it unjust that they did not already have a Wikipedia page is Team StarKid. Made completely from scratch, sourcing even the common knowledge to maintain that it would not be put up for deletion. And even with the pouring out of my soul into that article, a user [JohnInDC]-(with no user page for any kind of credentials) has chosen to cut out almost all of the information from my article (insert curse word here)!

I don't intend on posting anything further or editing any articles other than my own in the future, being when this semester ends. My reasoning for this is explained in the section below "Relationship with Wikipedia".

Relationship with Wikipedia[edit]

I disagree with the idea behind Wikipedia. It is unreliable and there are a select few people who can truly edit on a whim and write as they please without being disturbed. I almost never use Wikipedia, I've always over looked it when searching for reliable information or research. I have scrolled through sometimes in the past, for a good laugh or for information on trivial references to fictional things or slang. I personally don't find Wikipedia to be a notable source for papers or any other kind of official assignment, some of my high school teachers agreed with this while others that were very laid back allowed it. The idea that anyone can edit an article is what makes me so very skeptical about Wikipedia's reliability, Anyone who thinks they know better can go into an article and change any fact to the fiction they've been predisposed to believe in their lifetime. It's editing leaves too much up to personal opinion by other users. Even when working collectively society can be and often is wrong much too much of the time. My current professor for English, the class I am writing this for now, think that Wikipedia can be a good source most of the time. She herself edits it on a regular basis so I can not judge her for her choice to trust it.

I believe that many people that sign up for Wikipedia and begin editing articles don't have much if any qualifications to be editing encyclopedia articles at all. I can safely say that there aren't specialists waiting on articles to be vandalized and ready to pounce and correct them for the common good. This is why I believe that Wikipedia is not a true and reliable encyclopedia or source at all. A minimum set list of qualifications would be a great idea to move Wikipedia toward a reliable status. Right now all I can say for you is that I trust you as much as I trust [Urban Dictionary] which in the same means I won't be using you as a source anytime soon either.
