Jenna Susko is an investigative reporter currently with NBC Bay Area, KNTV, in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a member of the NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit, and works alongside Tony Kovaleski, Stephen Stock, Vicky Nguyen, and Elyce Kirchner. She is the watchdog reporter of the group.[1] Prior to joining the team in the Bay Area, she worked for stations throughout the southeastern United States in Georgia and Florida.[2][3]
Jenna graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL, with a degree in Communications and English Literature.[4]

Professional Career[edit]

Recently, Susko has looked into the San Jose Disability Retirement System and found a lack of oversight in the system.

In addition, she was part of an NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit investigation that found "tax dollars may be going to a graffiti cleanup company for work they never performed."

The unit also looked into whether a conflict of interest exists within San Jose's pension system.

Jenna also raised questions about the effectiveness of the Bay Area's "Spare the Air" program. According to the report, "the Bay Area Air Quality Management District asks the public to report those who are burning illegally on Spare the Air days," but the program has not been cost effective.

According to her official bio on the NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit's page, she "has built a reputation for quality investigative reporting with stories about poor oversight of FEMA funds across the Gulf Coast, mismanagement in a court system allowing criminals to easily get cases dismissed and security flaws at a local school system."[5]

She is also a member of IRE, Investigative Reporters and Editors.[1]

Career History[edit]

Susko joined NBC Bay Area as an investigative reporter after her last broadcast on December 2, 2011 at her former station, WPMI, which covers South Alabama and much of the Emerald Coast of Florida.[6]She joined KNTV alongside Tony Kovaleski, and together they were the first two investigative reporters hired by KNTV to form the Investigative Unit.

In a news release announcing the hiring of Susko and Kovaleski, Richard Cerussi, President and General Manager of NBC Bay Area, stated, "As we increase our investment in high-quality local journalism, we are very pleased to welcome these two investigative journalists to the Bay Area and into our newsroom. Tony and Jenna are the first of many new team members who will allow us to bring Bay Area viewers more of the kind of in-depth investigations that result in positive change."[7]
