The West Mainland Darts Association in an organisation responsible for running the darts leagues and cups in the West Mainland of Orkney for both men and women. The darts season starts in September and finishes in April however their is usually a winter break in the middle. The League formed in the early 1970's with the 1st League singles champion receiving his trophy in 1972.

Orkney is an archipelago of over 70 islands off the north of coast of Scotland and a population of around 20,000 with nearly all the darts happening on the largest island called Mainland.

The League has had teams from numerous venues over the years including the following Stromness Golf Club, Stromness Legion, The Ferry Inn, The Royal, The Stromness Hotel, The Braes, Scorrabrae and Noust in Orphir, The Smithfield from Dounby, Merkister Hotel from Harray, Barony from Birsay, Mistra in Evie, Stenness and the Pomona Inn from Finstown. Each Mens league team at present comprises 6 players and each game is 501 played over the best of 5 legs for doubles and two rounds of singles singles .

Several cups are played for throughout the year with the format varying depending on the venue but are mostly 4 a side over best of 3 legs.

The Ladies' League is also 6 per side, but they play double start, best of 3 legs. The ladies' cups have a similar format, but with a straight start.

Also held are the league singles, doubles and mixed doubles championships and also a recent addition a Singles League that has seen very generous sponsorship in its short life span.
