Maldon is a small estuary town in Essex which is synonymous with the production of Sea Salt, as described by Delia Smith. It is around 10 miles from the county town of Essex, Chelmsford, and around 15 miles from the oldest recorded town, Colchester. Maldon has a church tower which is the only one with three sides and some historical significance in the form of a battle. It has a large promenade park which is popular with tourists and gives the town a seaside feel. It is not close to the West Midlands.

Ouch

The three best things about Maldon are:

  1. Moot Hall
  2. The Prom - great ice cream, candy floss and chips (not to be consumed at the same time)
  3. The Oakhouse

The three worst things are:

  • The fact the tuck shop closed
  • No more Wheelers fish and chips

And this is where I went on holiday:

What a wonderful view

Anyway, back to Maldon - this is the steepest road in Essex apparently, Market Hill:

Imagine walking up this every Friday night after the pub....
