I felt the need to have a place here to group together my participation in the things that require either a Support, Oppose, or Neutral vote, that I have participated in which relate to a particular user.

Requests for Adminship

Requests for adminship and bureaucratship update
No current discussions. Recent RfAs, recent RfBs: (successful, unsuccessful)

I do not participate in every RfA, although I routinely read and review most if not all that are submitted. I participate in less than 50% of current RfAs, and it is even rarer for me to oppose or declare neutrality.

My Standards

My standards are very fluid and they regularly change. I also reserve the right to ignore my standards when I deem appropriate. That being said, there are some constants which do not change or only slightly vary:

  • Actually answer the standard questions and not just post a one-line response.
  • Displays knowledge of the policies through prior contributions to the areas the user requests the tools for.
  • Mainspace contributions not limited to vandalism reverts (even the creation of multiple stubs is enough to fulfil this)
    • DYKs; Good Articles; Featured Articles, Lists, Pictures, Topics are an even better indicator of the quality of the mainspace contributions.
  • Clean block log or last block occurred over 4 months prior.
  • Not have a previous Arbitration Committee ruling against which imposed editing restrictions or blocks/bans.
  • Edit summary usage near-perfect for at a minimum the last 150 major and minor edits.
  • Display a general helpfulness and willingness towards new editors when approached.

Requests for Bureaucratship

I usually participate in every RfB that I see when looking at WP:RFA on a regular basis.

My Standards

Generally, I do not have set standards like RfA, for RfB, but there are certain things that will lead me to either not participate, oppose, or abstain via a neutral !vote.

Arbitration Committee Elections

Standards

  • Must be an Administrator and have at least one extra position of special community trust (Bureaucrat, Checkuser, Oversight, OTRS, Mediation Committee, Arbitration Committee Clerk, WikiProject Coordinator).
  • Also, what I consider to be the most important, who would I want to judge me if I was named as a party to an ArbCom case.

December 2007 Election

December 2008 Election

Results

Support

  • Jayvdb - One of 299 supports for an Admin, Oversighter, and former ArbCom clerk.
    • Elected and appointed to a three-year term in an expansion seat in Tranche Beta
  • Rlevse - One of 306 supports for an Admin, Bureaucrat, Checkuser, and lead coordinator of the Scouting WikiProject.
    • Elected and appointed to a three-year term in Tranche Beta
  • Roger Davies - One of 218 supports for an Admin, and lead coordinator of the Military history WikiProject. He seems to be following in the footsteps of Kirill and has been described somewhere (not by me) as "a clone of Kirill".
    • Elected and appointed to a three-year term in Tranche Beta
  • WJBscribe - One of 268 supports for an Admin, Bureaucrat, and chair of the Mediation Committee.
    • Withdrew from the election and subsequently retired due to real-life time constraints.

Oppose — I decided to oppose certain candidates this year due to a multitude of reasons including previous experience/observations of the candidates and their actions.

  • Charles Matthews - New blood, not continuity candidates (i.e. sitting arbs) are needed in the committee.
  • Fish and karate - Removal of OTRS access and behavior off-wiki are extremely concerning.
  • Kmweber - Seriously, if he gets 1000 opposes can we community ban him? His trolling has no place in this community, so ArbCom is way out of his league.
