Stuff about this user that you probably don't care about, but will most likely end up reading anyways[edit]

This user was born in Savannah, Georgia, grew up in Garden City, Georgia, and currently lives in Statesboro, Georgia. She is currently a high school senior who is joint-enrolling at Georgia Southern University. Although she thinks Georgia Southern is a great school, she is going to Kennesaw State University: the college of her dreams.

This user enjoys helping out. She often goes on mission trips with her church's youth group, known as The Zone (are you in it?). She cleans houses, pet sits, babysits and helps others with any odd job they need help with. She often donates blood for American Red Cross blood drives because she has O negative blood and is proud of it! This user also is involved in the Zone Band, her youth group's band, that leads worship every Wednesday at Eastern Heights Baptist Church. She does it not because she's good at it or because it's fun, but because she loves singing to her God and helping others find the same joy that she has found in Him through this act of worship.

This user & Wikipedia are pretty tight[edit]

This user makes minor edits to Wikipedia pages every now and then. She has created the Wikipedia page for the Baird Mountains. She would appreciate any advice or help in ways to improve the article!

Technology vs. User[edit]

This user has a Facebook account, e-mail, a laptop, a cell phone and an iPod. She texts often just to communicate short messages to her friends and family. She cannot stand having conversations through text messages, and she gets tired of texting after a while. This user likes to communicate by talking to someone on the phone or, most preferably, in person. She also enjoys receiving and writing letters through the US mail, but she uses email more often than US mail just because of its convenience.

This user enjoys editing photos on Picnik, and she is proficient at Microsoft Word 2007 & 2010. This user knows enough about technology to get by, but she is definitely not some technical whiz. This user enjoys the convenience of technology, but she isn't opposed to not using it.

Thoughts on Wikipedia[edit]

This user goes to Wikipedia when she isn't familiar with a topic. She thinks Wikipedia does a really great job at giving information in a neutral tone that is easy for her to understand.

This user has heard several criticisms of Wikipedia from some high school teachers that claimed that Wikipedia is not a reliable source of information to cite in their assignments. This user agrees because Wikipedia is a place where contributors put information into their own words so that others can access pages on topics that they can now familiarize themselves with. The problem with this is that although the information may be credible and well-written, it is paraphrased from the original sources. This user doesn't use the original Wikipedia as sources in her papers and assignments, but uses the Wikipedia pages to find credible sources to cite in her assignments. And although this user may cite the sources and not the actual Wikipedia pages, she enjoys reading the Wikipedia pages because they help her to better understand the topics.

To be honest, this user thought that Wikipedia wasn't credible or valid whatsoever until she actually made her own Wikipedia page and helped contribute. She didn't realize that there are standards and qualifications in place so that every contribution to Wikipedia has notability. She thinks that the standards in place help Wikipedia to be balanced in a way, and she loves that anyone can edit because new ideas and information can be brought to the table that we might not have thought of otherwise.

Languages[edit]

This user is a fluent speaker, reader and writer of American English. She took a Spanish class in her sophomore year of high school, but remembers only a few selection of words. She isn't very good at communicating with the language at all, though she loves the culture.
