Sahyadri Tiger Reserve is a 741.22 km2 (286.19 sq mi) Project Tiger tiger reserve located near Sangli in Western Maharashtra state, India. It includes all of Chandoli National Park and Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary.[1]

History[edit]

The reserve was declared by The National Tiger Conservation Authority on May 21, 2007. The government of Maharashtra subsequently notified the reserve on January 5, 2010. It is the thirty ninth tiger reserve in India, the first in western Maharashtra and the fourth in the state after Melghat, Tadoba-Andhariand Pench Tiger Reserves.[2][1]

Fauna[edit]

The Sahyadri Tiger Reserve was estimated to have nine tigers and 66 leopards in 2007. [2]
