Origins[edit]

SkyCade originally launched in 2014 as a Prison Server and was owned by JackSucksAtMinecraft. Later in 2015 SkyCade was re-opened as a Factions server with JackSucksAtMinecraft owning it, and his friend Joe (TurkeyDinosaur) helping him along the way with development and videos. The two would often create "Raiding" videos where they would try to destroy other Factions in hopes that they would be number one in the game.

Downfall[edit]

During 2016, SkyCade's owner Jack took a long break from YouTube videos to take a trip to Australia. During this time Jack left SkyCade under the ownership of his friend "NoBoom" which ultimately led to SkyCade beginning to see a decline in users. Jack would drastically change this in the coming weeks.

The rise[edit]

Jack noticed the server was beginning to die, so he purchased a laptop while in Australia so he could begin to record videos on his server again. Jack began a series called "Hacker catching and trolling" which was the series that would boost Jack and SkyCade into large numbers. This would continue for 2 more years until the Hacker Catching videos began to slow down.

Controversies[edit]

SkyCade has had a few dangerous controversies, but none more dangerous than that of Joe (TurkeyDinosaur) who Jack made several videos with. It was exposed in mid 2018 that Joe had been exploiting staff members of SkyCade in sexual ways and using his powers to blackmail them. This was first publicly exposed by "Rufferina" on Twitter, then later confirmed by Jack on the SkyCade forums. Joe was fired from his position immediately and has yet to return to the server.

SkyCade also had another dangerous controversy surrounding the company of the Minecraft game, Mojang. The famous company had noticed SkyCade was selling items that were giving a high advantage to the users who purchased them, and this went against Mojang's EULA. SkyCade was given a warning, and in replacement of the "Mystery Crate Keys" were the Ranks system that SkyCade still has in place today.

Jack's Resignation[edit]

Dispite returning to SkyCade and making more videos on his channel JackSucksAtStuff, Jack officially resigned from SkyCade on the 10th of August 2020, although it is thought that Dwayne Hulsman, Systems Admin of SkyCade, was the owner for a while before this public announcement.
