Academic career

Håvard Rue is a Norwegian statistician, noted for his contributions to Bayesian statistical methodology, in particular for the faster computation possible with INLA (Integrated Nested Laplace Approximations),[1][2] Gaussian Markov Random Fields, and spatial statistics.

He was formerly professor of statistics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where he earned his Ph.D. in 1993, but is now professor of at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.
