From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Good Spread is a natural peanut butter company that donates packets of nutrient-dense, therapeutic peanut butter to malnourished children around the world for every product sold.

Company Mission[edit]

According to the World Health Organization (WHO)[1], Severe Acute Malnutrition is the leading cause of fatality in children under 5 around the world(30-35%.) Until recently, doctors were limited to using a powdered milk formula, that has since been replaced with a product called Ready-To-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF.) RUTF is a peanut butter based medicine that has a 95% cure rate for children who can receive the proper treatment.[2]

Production[edit]

Good Spread is an all-natural peanut butter blended with honey that is produced in Fitzgerald, Georgia, next door to the MANA Nutrition Factory. The same peanuts used to help fight malnourishment in the MANA RUTF product are used in Good Spread.

Origins[edit]

In the fall of 2011, co-founders Mark and Alex were working for MANA Nutrition on a cross-country tour to raise awareness about RUTF and malnutrition. They were living in a 1971 Winnebago Brave that caught on fire and blew up on the PCH outside of Malibu, California on November 11, 2011. [3]
