Georges-Louis-Ernest Raquez (January 14, 1887 – 1972[1]), also known as Georges Raquez, and on rare occasion abbreviated as G.L.E. Raquez, was a Belgian Lieutenant General who served during World War Two and World War One.

Biography[edit]

Raquez was born to parents unknown, on January 14, 1887, at an as of yet unknown location. Sometime after World War One[2], Raquez would marry one Georgette Morel (1896-1979[3][2]), sister of Andrée Morel[3][2].

Very little is known regarding his early military service, save for him being an artillery commander[2] as of the First World War[a].

The rest of his military career leaves no precise details, but what is known is that he was a Lieutenant Colonel as of December 26 1931[1], a Colonel as of September 26, 1936[1] and a Lieutenant General in the Belgian Army as of July 26 1946[1].

The Military Attaché of Belgium to France is listed as a "Georges Raquez", possibly being Georges-Louis-Ernest Raquez[4].
