Sylvias personal life before Ted Hughes, was not, and is still not very publicized to this day. Sylvia Plath, before she was married Ted Hughes, in 1957, she was involved with writer,Richard Sassoon.Sylvia Plath, before she was married Ted Hughes, in 1957, she was involved with writer, Richard Sassoon. [1]Plath Met Sassoon at a Yale-Smith Gathering in December 1954. Sassoon graduated from Yale in Yale in 1955 and continued his education at the University of Sorbonne, in Paris France where Plath would visit on occasion. [2] Although little is known of their relationship, it is evident in both of their writings that they influenced and loved each other greatly. Richard was Plaths’ first true love. Although she was not physically attracted to Sassoon, she was attracted to his mind and the experiences that he could provide for her. [3]
