Muhammad Bakhsh Samejo ( Sindhi محمد بخش سميجو ) was a television producer and director working at the state-owned Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) in Karachi, Pakistan. During his tenure at PTV, he produced 16 Sindhi and 11 Urdu drama serials and hundreds of solo plays. His prominent plays include "Ghulam" (Sindhi) and Noori Jam Tamachi (Urdu) and he received 4 PTV awards as well as several other independent media awards.

He worked at PTV for almost 30 years before his death in 2004 due to cardiac arrest.

Background[edit]

He was born on 5th February 1946 at Village Butt Sirai, Taluka Mehar, District Dadu. After graduating in Law, he started his formal practice in Dadu in 1973.

Move to television[edit]

His interest in the field of acting led him to a part in the movie 'Jogi'. He then shifted to Karachi and joined Pakistan Television as an Assistant Producer. In 1976, he produced his first drama 'Ghutt'. His Sindhi drama Ghulam and Urdu play Noori Jam Tamachi got awards in Germany.

Death[edit]

On 27th August 2007, Muhammad Bakhsh Samejo suffered a critical heart attack and was hospitalized in the ICU at Liaquat National Hospital in Karachi. Despite all efforts, he breathed his last on the eve of 13th September 2004. He was 58.

He is buried in his home city of Dadu.
