Code of the Clans is the third field guide in the bestselling Warriors series by Erin Hunter. Written by Erin Hunter, Code of the Clans includes a wide array of short stories explaining how all fifteen elements of the warrior code came into existence, their themes ranging from humor to heartbreak. The novel series' main illustrator, Wayne McLoughlin, plays a large role in the completion of this book with six exceptional color illustrations, including the front cover, and countless black-and-white sketches throughout the stories. Code of the Clans was published in June 2009 by HarperCollins Children's Books, a division of HarperCollins Publishers. The stories are narrated by one of the Warriors series main characters, Leafpool, and before each story, she gives her own commentary on the code she is talking about. It is written as if Leafpool is not merely telling the stories about how the warrior code came about, but she implies that she is actually taking the reader back to the very scenes that created the code.
