User:MessageDeliveryBot/Rules

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Before submitting and approving a request please take care to ensure it adheres to these rules:

  1. That the message doesn't contain material that could be construed as inappropriate canvassing if the message is in relation to a proposal you've submitted, if in doubt err on the side of caution and ask an experienced member of the community for help
  2. That the message doesn't contain personal attacks, legal threats or the real names and personal information of other Wikipedians
  3. That the message doesn't violate policies and guidelines (eg. messages that contain advertising or propaganda are not acceptable)
  4. That the message is related to collaboration on Wikipedia and not a personal message
  5. The people you're contacting should be likely to care about the issue: they should have shown an interest in the topic at hand through discussion, lists, and userboxes - do not simply compose a list of random users to receive the message
  6. Messages should explain why that person is receiving the message, and how they can opt out of future messages
  7. Messages should have MORE than 1 recipient, messages that have only 1 recipient (be that the requester or someone else) will be deleted, whether with or without notice is at the sole discretion of the admins deleting it, sending such messages is an unnecessary drain of server resources.

Regular tool users may consider getting a TUSC, if you already have one make a request on any tool admin's talk page.

Remember: If in doubt, ask. As inappropriate messages and approving such messages will result in removal of access or in serious circumstances, the offending party may be blocked. Also remember to remove any/all numbering from requests and to read these rules and instructions carefully.
