Gender Stereotyping since Childhood[edit]

An individual faces gender stereotyping right from his/her childhood. We start being tormented with gender biases at a very early age and due to differentiation between boys and girls in childhood changes the viewpoint of a person very deeply. As soon as our parents come to know about the sex of a child they start decorating their rooms and toys accordingly. If the child is a boy then their rooms are decorated with blue colour and the toys they play with are majorly cars and play with superheroes toys and if it’s a girl then her room is decorated with pink colour and she plays with barbies and kitchen sets. This way childhood affects gender stereotyping in society.

Conclusion[edit]

Identifying the social and cultural learning that forms feminine and male individuality is so an important step in stopping the expansion of sexist stereotypes and prejudices in boys and women. Gender roles play a vital role in shaping the way we think of other gender in society. There is a thin line difference between sex and gender. Biological difference between male and female is sex while gender is the social and cultural differences between males and females made by the society on the basis of beliefs and practices which we can associate with masculinity and femininity. Gender stereotypes contain generalization about the gender attributes played by an individual or group. We see such gender stereotyping in our daily lives at every place in this world. In fact we have given gender related attributes not only to human beings but also to nonliving things.
