'John Leslie Campbell - Author, Speaker, Mind Coach' Born in Colonial India in 1946 his parents moved from India to Malaya, Australia, South Africa, Kenya and finally brought John to his native UK at age of 7 in 1953. By this time his mother Joan was chronically alcoholic and deeply mentally disturbed. She took her young son on as her accomplice as she spent drunken days shoplifting in The Lanes of Brighton while keeping John off school to assist her. When he was just seventeen John escaped from the clutches of his homelife and joined the Merchant Navy as a Navigating Officer Cadet with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. He served in vessels supporting the Royal Navy in the evacuation of Aden, The Beira Patrol, Middle East and Far East Stations. He quickly rose through the ranks gaining his Foreign Going Masters Certificate at age 26 in 1972 from The Leith Nautical College in Edinburgh. He obtained his first command of MV Imperial Service at age 26 and serviced oil rigs off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, Canada. He also served as Captain in Angola, Mauritius, South Africa, The North Sea, Brazil and in 1975 was Captain of MV Baffin Service when it was awarded The Blue Riband for the fastest towing of an oil rig (Zapata Ugland) from Port Arthur, Texas to Aberdeen Scotland. He was promoted to Managing Director of Offshore Operators (Nigeria) Ltd where he managed the vessels of Seahorse Inc of Morgan City, Louisiana. During his time working in Nigeria he succumed to alcohol and became involved in the smuggling of oil out of Nigeria and whisky into Saudi Arabia. He eventually reached his rock bottom in 1997 and admitted himself into Broadway Lodge, a treatment centre for addictive disorders in Weston Super Mare. This was following a seemingly 'chance' meeting with an old friend who he hadn't seen for 15 years and who had recently attended the same centre to address his own alcoholism. When Campbell completed his seven weeks of intense treatment he gave up all his previous businesses and began an intense study of the human mind and behaviour. He embarked on numerous courses of studying and healing in hypnosis and neuro linguistic programming. In 2000 he attended the world renowned programme known as The Hoffman Process where he was first introduced to the power of forgiveness as a healing tool. This course led him to begin an even deeper study of the mind and eventually led him to studying 'A Course In Miracles'. This metaphysical masterpiece confirmed his earlier introduction to the concept that the mind, and not the body, is the altar to truth. Having spent ten years previously as Director and Vice Chairman of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club, from where he was removed as a result of his public and vocal, and often drunken, opposition to the sale of the Goldstone Ground by the new owners, Bill Archer, Greg Stanley and David Bellotti - he wanted to practice his new found knowledge in this field of football which was still his life's passion. He underwent an intensive study of the impact of thoughts on the body and how injuries all had their roots in the mind and began lecturing on the power of the mind. In 2010 his first book 'The Secret of Intimate Relationships' was published to great acclaim. A movie based on the story of Campbell's life story 'Addicts and Angels - A Smuggler's Voyage To Enlightnment' is now in progress. He is now a speaker with The London Speaker Bureau and works with corporations sharing his experiences of the power of the mind.
