Shatterproof is an American nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to educating the general public regarding substance abuse and removing the stigma attached to drug and alcohol dependence in order to create an environment that is more open to constructive communication.

History

Shatterproof was established in 2012 by founder and former CEO of HEI Hotel & Resorts, Gary Mendell. The hotel entrepreneur created the foundation after his son, Brian, died of a drug overdose in October 2011 after almost a decade of battling addiction.
