Michael K. Lavers (born August 16, 1981) is a reporter for the Washington Blade, an LGBT newspaper that is based in Washington, D.C.

Lavers has been a reporter with the Washington Blade since 2012. He became the newspaper's International News Editor[1] in June 2015.

Lavers in 2015 became the first reporter from an LGBT-specific publication to report from Cuba.[2] He has also reported from Mexico City, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Spain, the Netherlands, Hungary, Turkey, Israel and the West Bank.

Lavers in 2014 reported from Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. He also covered the 2016 Republican National Convention and the 2016 Democratic National Convention, the immediate aftermath of the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, and the impact of Hurricane Maria on Puerto Rico's LGBT community.

Lavers grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire and graduated from the University of New Hampshire. He lives in Washington, D.C., with his partner.
