Article Introduction[edit]

The Mobile Land Mine is a type of motorized vehicle with an explosive (a type of weapon that explodes) that first appeared during the 1940's. Its ability to be able to go through and over most terrain made it a high piece of equipment for its time. While serving as a Land Mine, it was also able to detect land mines which assisted British troops. With recent developments on a new prototype, the reason for this wikipedia page is to introduce the upbringing of this new prototype. With the same function and nearly the same components which allows it to do the same thing but just with modern technology which will allow it to be better than what it was.

History[edit]

The Mobile Land Mine started off as a project by the British during World War II which was remote controlled and had an active explosive. The development of the Mobile Land Mine began In 1935 under project Edward. Once developed, The Mobile Land Mine also know as the beetle was produced by an industry of the name Metrovick's.[1] Metrovick's Inc. was highly known for the production of many industrial electrical equipment which is where the Mobile Land Mine was first produced. The production of Mobile Land Mine project was slow-paced and the motors used in the project were heating up too quickly. Due to this fact and that the inventors didn't qualify making trials as necessary, no extra trials were held and only 50 Mobile Land Mine were produced. Currently, present time has started to reinvent a new prototype of the Mobile Land Mine. One with more technology, making it faster and containing more features.

Advancement's[edit]

Although the Mobile Land Mine began in Great Britain, it is currently under development by the United States of America which is an ally to Britain by the NATO contract. Within this new prototype is spring like suspension that plans on attacking tanks from above.[2] Another feature included was the terrain shaping obstacle. What this feature does is more for the benefit of U.S troops since was this does is make the terrain more accessible and easier to maneuver in while limiting the enemies ability to maneuver in certain directions. This feature while do this by setting obstacles such as ditches, wire, natural restrictive terrain. and also a lethal munition.[3] Now the new Mobile Land Mine prototype might sound and seem a little scary. I wouldn't doubt it considering it's a bomb, but the overall aspect and perspective of it looks fascinating. With six legs built to look like a spider this could be the next defensive war equipment around a base. Lastly an interesting fact about the spider prototype is that it first appeared in 2002 with a soul purpose of delivering urgent materials within Afghanistan.[3]

Purpose[edit]

The purpose of the Mobile Land Mine is to provide a military grade piece of equipment that could assist troops when out on the battlefield. Allows to detect any metallic mines by utilizing high sensitivity metal detectors. While serving as a potential Lethal hazard for military forces, it plays a huge defensive role with a physiological impact on enemy forces putting them in a situation where their decision making is challenged. The Mobile Land Mine serves three huge main purposes which are:

  • Territorial protection: Could serve as Barries around all bases to provided an on command activation explosive when under attack.[3]
  • Terrain Adjustment: This could help the U.S troops move easier and can make it difficult for the enemies[2]
  • Remote Controlled: Allows someone from a distance to control and maneuver the Mobile Land Mine while also activating it.

Technology[4][edit]

The Mobile Land Mine has many components which allow it to run and function with multi purposes.

  • Power Source: Requires a high voltage battery sources in order to keep all the electrical functions running so that there is no failure with the detonation[5]
  • Casing(Cover): Contains a secured and durable casing in order to keep and protect the internal components and mechanisms
  • Activating Mechanism: Land miens typically have a triggering mechanism whether it's pressure-sensitive or just remote controlled, same applies for the Mobile Land Mine
  • Detonation Sensors: Regarding sensors, one of the many needed is this detonation sensor. This sensor is needed to detect specific conditions, such as present targets, magnetic fields, or changes in the terrain, this factors are needed so that it can trigger the activation mechanism.
  • Anti-Tampering features: This is to ensure that there is no tampering or disarming. Newer technology which would be integrated in the new version of the Mobile Land Mine.
