The townland of Archersgrove (Irish: Garrán an Áirséaraigh, meaning ' Archers Grove'), is a townland in County Kilkenny, Ireland.[1] The townland contains Archersgrove House,[5] and farmyard complex.[6] The River Nore flows parallel to the townland, and on its banks was Archersgrove Flour Mills.
It lies south-east of Kilkenny, and is crossed by the towns ring road, the N10, which then crosses the River Nore to the north of the townland. The Bennettsbridge Road on the south.
Located in the barony of Shillelogher,[6][7] and part of Saint Patrick's civil parish.[8] Archersgrove in the Electoral Division of Kilkenny Rural.[9]
History[edit]
In the 1247 feodary for a place called 'Archery' a William le Archer is cited holding 1/4 knight's fee. This place name may be equated with Archerstown, or nearby, where the modern townlands of Archersgrove and Archerslea, in St. Patricks parish, and Archersrath in St. John's parish, mark an early presence of the family.
Archersgrove and Broadfields was recorded in the Down Survey (1656) in the Kilkenny Liberties.[10], Thomas Archer the 1641 owner and then the Earl of Ormond the 1670 owner.

Heritage status and function[edit]
The building is a recorded monument.[6] The Tholsel is a Protected Structure (RPS Ref B43) included in the Record of Protected Structures for Kilkenny.[13] It is indexed in the Archaeological Survey of Ireland under 'RMP KK019-099',[14] and is indexed in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage of Ireland under the registration number 12309011.[6]
