I hold both a BA, summa cum laude, in history and religious studies from Marlboro College and a BA/MA (Honours) in Philosophy and Theology from Mansfield College, Oxford. My academic interests are in the fields of early Christian history (both the NT and Patristic periods), Christianity and politics, political theory, the philosophy of law and international relations; I have conducted research on the development and political influence of early Christian monasticism in Roman late antiquity and early mediaeval Europe.

I am personally interested in psychiatric issues, primarilly bipolarity and attention deficits.

Most of my interests seem to be intensely contentious. I support an academic and scientific model for all WP entries, and will, as politely as possible, correct entries that are not based in fact. That includes: anything about Elaine Pagels being a well respected academic; The DaVinci Code being either factual or original; SSRIs increasing suicidality; or e-meters.

In my free time I support the Washington Nationals and the Washington Redskins. They really should change that name. I also play chess, and I'm currently struggling to gain a passing familiarity with the Caro-Kann and Slav Defense.
