The Focus360 Red Zone is a visual resource of over 200 virtual tours of the Canterbury earthquakes taken from 2012 to 2020. They are online on the website titled Canterbury Earthquakes, The Red Zone: 2012 to 2020.
These virtual tours are also currently on show on a touch screen television in the Canterbury Museum’s Quake City Exhibition in Christchurch, New Zealand.
These virtual tours can pan and zoom on a specific location. Most virtual tours are location based and are in the central business district. They show the demolition and rebuild of a large number of buildings. The virtual tours are location based mainly on intersections and can have up to 6 virtual tours taken over 8 years for each location. There is however a number taken of significant sites. Several examples of the significant sites are QE2 stadium and AMI Stadium (formerly Lancaster Park) both of which are demolished now. Also included are virtual tours of the University of Canterbury and Lyttelton.
These virtual tours have been donated to the Canterbury Museum, Christchurch, New Zealand.
These earthquakes struck Canterbury over a period of time mainly from September 2011 to the end of 2012. The official memorial for those killed or seriously injured can be remembered at the Canterbury Earthquake National Memorial in Christchurch.[1]
