The tourism in Qingdao Qingdao is known as a beautiful coastal city. The distinctive charm of this coastal city comes from the soft beach and warm sunshine. Lying on the south coast of the Shandong peninsula, Qingdao is a city of picturesque red-tiled roofs nestled between green hills and blue sea. The mild climate, the bathing beach, and the Mount Laoshan make Qingdao a popular healthy and holiday resort. Every summer holiday, there are many visitors travel to Qingdao for swimming in the surf and getting a good sun tanning on the beach. There are many attractive places of interest in Qingdao.The Zhanpiao Pier, the Beautiful Seashore Boardwalk, the Little Qingdao Island, the May 4th Square, the Laoshan Scenic Area, the under water world, the polar ocean world and so on.

The Zhanqiao Pier Zhanqiao Pier, built in 1891, is the symbol of Qingdao. After several restorations, from being a simple military harbor, it is now open to tourists. The pier is 440 meters long. There is an octagonal pagoda of distinctive Chinese style, called “ Huilan Pagoda”, at the end of the pier.

The Beautiful Seashore Boardwalk The construction of a seashore boardwalk is one of the key projects to be completed before the 2008 Olympic Games. The boardwalk is a beautiful scenery route along the coast. People can enjoy extremely beautiful coastal scenery along the boardwalk.

The Little Qingdao Island. Formerly part of the Qingdao's short-lived German-concession, Xiao Qingdao, or little Qing Island, was officially open to the public in 1987, after its previous incarnation as a restricted military area.

The May 4th Square This square is named to honor the May 4th Movement which took place in 1919. Consisting of two squares and a park, the area is decorated with statues and fountains and surrounded by pine trees, meadows, and flowers. It has become the symbol of modern Qingdao.

The Laoshan Scenic Area The Laoshan Scenic Area was one of China’s first major scenic resorts to receive the approval of the State Council. It holds an important position in Qingdao’s tourism industry. The acceleration of its natural landscape development and improved access to its cultural facilities is an important component of the city’s Olympic endeavors. Major tourist spots include the Laoshan Kangcheng Academy, the Jufeng Scenic Area and Nine Waters& Eighteen Pools.

The under water world There are few places in the world where you’ll find marine shows as tacky as this place, and that fact alone is almost worth making the effort to see it. The oldest marine park in Qingdao, the aquarium’s got a history that goes back about 70 years. In recent times, the aquarium has seen major investments and construction and is now host to an impressive array of displays. Among the four underground levels you’ll find an inter-tidal zone display, a seabed tunnel, a cabin passage, a marine and theater.

The Polar Ocean World where penguins cavort in the water and white furred bears laze about on the ice. Make sure to make some inquiries regarding the Beluga whale show, these gentle creatures put on quite the performance.
