Plot[edit]

Prologue: Good Kid (Year 9)[edit]

The novels opens with young Kim Seok-jin helping his friend escape from a group of men who barged into their classroom in the middle of a class to take him away as hostage against his father who owed money to them. Seok-jin hides his friend in his house, but the thugs managed to find them. As the men take his friend away, Seok-jin protests but his father tells him to "be a good kid" and shuts the door. Seok-jin apologizes, "I won't make trouble again." By the next day, he learns from his teacher that his friend had "transferred to another school."
