Green Books is one of the largest book publishing companies in Kerala. Green Books was established by group of committed non resident keralites who were passionate in Art and literature. Green Books is practically, the last entrant to the realm of publishing in Malayalam based at Cultural Capital of Kerala.

Green Books[edit]

Green Books[1] was registered in August 2002, as private limited company and formally started functioning on september 11, of the same year. But the publishing and distribution of books came to a reality since the inauguration of its first showroom at M G Road Thrissur in November 2004. Since its inception, Green books has been recording a steady progress and wholesome growth via, bringing out titles under almost all genres envisaged in publishing with headquarters in Thrissur, Kerala, India.The categories of books that GB has published so far are strewn over subjects like World Classics (Translation), World Renowned Novels (Translation), Indian Novels (Translation) Malayalam Novels, Golden Stories of Malayalam, Golden Stories of Other Indian Languages, Collection of Stories, Plays, Humour, Biographies /Autobiographies, Memoirs, Cinema , Travelogues, Poems, Criticism, Studies, Essays , Entrepreneurship , Epics, Religion, Cartoon , Cookery, Children Literature, Education so on and so forth.

DC Books is the parent company of the following imprints:

  • DC Books:[2] non-fiction, literature, translations, and reference books
  • Kairali Mudralayam:[3] popular fiction, including children's books and translations
  • Kairali Children's Book Trust:[4] produces children's literature and gives annual awards for best works in Malayalam
  • Mango: Children's imprint in English. Winner of Awards for Excellence(2014) constituted by the Federation of Indian Publishers.

Achievements[edit]

  • In 2004 alone, won five awards in the General, Reference, Paperback, House Magazine, and Catalogues categories for their: Malayalam Encyclopedia, Thesaurus, Charithrakaandom, Pachakuthira.[5]
  • In 2004 alone, D.C. Books brought out 531 titles, the maximum number among Indian publishers
  • DC Books was the first publishers/book sellers in India to get ISO 9000 Certification.[6]

DC Books Clubs and Festivals[edit]

The DC International Book Fair[7] offers book releases and exhibitions. The Fair also features youth contests in Spot Poetry Writing, English Quiz, Malayalam Quiz, Street Drama - Malayalam, Declamation, Pen A Story, Special Schools Only, Film Appreciation, English Reading, Malayalam Reading, Painting, and Readers Theatre.

The Head quarters of Green Books is situated near the Colletorat at Ayyanthole, Thrissur.

DC Media[edit]

DC Media,[8] the media wing of DC Books was launched in January 2011. DC Media publishes Education Insider, a pan-Asian magazine for the education sector; Future Medicine, a global magazine on health and medicine;Emerging Kerala, a magazine which focuses on the socio-economic development of Kerala; and Pachakuthira, a magazine which intervenes into the socio-political space.
