Open market operation (OMO) bills are securities issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria fully backed by the institution. It is an important tool for conducting monetary policy in Nigeria.Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). The central bank uses it to mop up liquidity in the financial system. Therefore, when it issues OMO bills, it needs to mop up excess liquidity, and vice-versa.
