Nominating a Michelin starred restaurant for deletion[edit]

Q: Can I nominate a restaurant that has or had Michelin stars for deletion?
A: Yes, nothing is sacred on Wikipedia so you are allowed to nominate every article you want.

Q: What is the chance on success when nominating a Michelin starred restaurant for deletion?
A: Extremely slim

Q: Why is chance on success so slim?
A: The Michelin Guide has very strict quality guidelines for the food and the restaurant itself. In effect, it means that only a few of the restaurants in a country will receive one or more Michelin stars. They want excellence in the food, what excludes the normal run of the mill restaurant from receiving Michelin stars.
Also, Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) states explicitly in its footnotes: Inclusion in "best of", "top 100", and similar lists generally does not count towards notability, unless the list itself is so notable that each entry can be presumed notable. Examples of the latter include the Fortune 500 or a Michelin Guide to restaurants.
Just as an example: In 2008, The Netherlands had 10.830 restaurants. 77 of them had one, two or three stars, or 0.71% of all restaurants. Due to being so rare, Michelin stars are special and so are the restaurants that carry them.

Q: Are only restaurants with Michelin star notable?
A: No. The Michelin Guide has a number of geographical limitations. The Michelin starred restaurants are only a category within all notable restaurants. Restaurants in countries not covered by Michelin Guide can be covered by other highly valued restaurant guides. And even with no restaurant guide available, there will be excellent restaurants with excellent food!
Restaurants can also be notable for other reasons than great food, like Nam Kee (which featured in a best-selling Dutch novel and a film based on the novel), Yankee Doodle Coffee Shop (frequented by students who later became US presidents), Columbia Restaurant (the oldest Spanish restaurant in the USA) and, unfortunately, the Golden Dragon, San Francisco (Golden Dragon massacre).

Q: Any further reading on this?
A: Yes, Michelin Guide and Restaurant rating are very helpful.

Q: Is there an overview of old nominations and discussions of Michelin starred restaurants?
A: Yes: see Common Outcomes

Q: Are the Michelin Bib Gourmants just as special as Michelin stars?
A: No, they are not. A Bib Gourmant is a feature that indicates "good food at moderate prices". Where the stars are rewarded only for the quality of the food, Bib Gourmants are rewarded for food under a certain price level (in 2010 € 35/$ 40) and excellent value for money.
