From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Legal Terrorism is a term used in India for section 498a of IPC due to its rampant misuse. In Sushil Kumar Sharma vs Union Of India And Ors judgement of 2005, Hon'ble Supreme Court of India has mentioned that "By misuse of the provision a new legal terrorism can be unleashed. The provision is intended to be used a shield and not assassins' weapon."
