Dr. Nicholas Kouladis Born in Athens, Greece, attended "Kalpaka" private primary school, followed by state high school (5th Lyceum for Boys). In 1979 moved to London, U.K., where he studied English (Pitman's English School), and then Shipping (London School of Foreign Trade). In 1981 gains a place on a postgraduate Shipping course at University of Wales, Cardiff (U.W.I.S.T.), and completes it successfully in 1982. For the following two years he moves to Liverpool, where he studies Shipping at Liverpool Polytechnic. He successfully applies for a place on an LL.M. course at University of Wales, Cardiff (U.W.I.S.T.). At the same time he attends a part-time research course at the City of London Polytechnic. By the end of 1986 completes both successfully, and having obtained a scholarship, he enrolls for a Ph.D. in law at Southampton University. In 1988 he starts part-time lecturing law at Southampton Technical College on various courses. In 1991 he assists Professor Wilson at the Institute of Maritime Law-Southampton University, on charter-parties, where he researches, writes and prepares material for publication at Pitman's "World Shipping Laws" series. With the help of his Ph.D. supervisor, Professor Robert Grime, he manages to successfully complete his first law textbook for the Chartered Insurance Institute. By 1992 he is awarded his Ph.D. from Southampton University, and completes his second law textbook on Marine Insurance. He embarks on a Common Professional Examination course at the University of West of England (ex-Bristol Polytechnic), which he successfully completes, and moves to London to attend the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law. Due to some family difficulties, he moves back to Southampton, where he works as a law lecturer at Southampton Technical College. He starts his training contract in Southampton with solicitor firm Christopher Green & Partners in 1994. At the same year his third law textbook on International Trade is published by Blackwells, and he takes the appointment of International Trade Law Examiner at the Institute of Export, a position held until 2011. In 1995, Christopher Greek & Partners is disolved thereby ceasing Nicholas' legal training half-way. In 1996 he enrolls and attends a full-time Legal Practice Course at Bournemouth University and he is awarded with a postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, thereby completing his Legal Practice Course. He continues his legal training on a part-time basis with a sole-practicioner solicitor, Mr. Maurice Jensen, and in 1999 he qualifies as solicitor. At the same time he is appointed honorary Consul of Greece in Southampton. From 1998 until May 2005 he holds the position of Senior Law Lecturer at Southampton Solent University, where he teaches law of contract, shipping law, and international trade law. During 2001-2003 he is a part-time lecturer at the University of Southampton, teaching law of contract and international trade law. In 2002 he marries Vasiliki Kapralou who gave birth to a son, Stylianos. Between 2002 and 2004 he worked as a legal advisor for the Guildford travel agency Travel Bargains, and the on-line tour operator Med Hotels. In 2005 he becomes a partner at Southampton law firm Hannides & Co, and works as a solicitor consultant at Ewing, Hickman & Clark. In the same year he becomes a Visiting Fellow at Southampton Solent University.
