Arthur Hadland is a municipal politician, representing Area C of the Peace River Regional District.[1]

He ran in the 2009 BC general election as an Independent candidate for Peace River North and came in a close second, receiving 31.33% of the vote. [2]

It has been confirmed that he will run again as an Independent in the 2013 BC general election for Peace River North. [3] [4] [5]


Background[edit]

Arthur Hadland has served as a director of the Peace River Regional District since 2008.

He has been an advocate for domestic use of our natural resources, such as natural gas co-gen. [6] [7] He led the drive for anti-HST petitions in the North Peace riding [8] and shown strong opposition to the Carbon tax. [9] [10]

He is a lifelong resident of the Peace region with roots going back to his family’s pioneering days in the 1920’s. [11]

Arthur was Chair and Director of the North Peace Savings & Credit Union Board from 1984 to 1990. He has also been the owner of InterAg Consulting since 1984.

He was a founding member and chair of the Coalition for Open Government, working towards land use and economic development with numerous citizen groups throughout the region. [12]

Arthur has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from UBC and is an active member of the BC Institute of Agrologists. He received the Provincial Agrologist of the Year award in 2001. He has spoken out provincially for the preservation of the ALR. [13]

An avid skier, Arthur was a member of the Canadian Ski Patrol and an active Board member for the Big Bam Ski Hill in Taylor for over twenty years.

Arthur and his wife own and manage a certified commercial grain and grass seed farm in the Baldonnel area. The Hadlands have four children and four grandchildren.
