The Potential Republic of Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh (NLGB or N.L.G.B.') is a fictional nation consisting of three million provinces and a bowling alley. The 2,999,998 central provinces and the bowling alley are in Mars between the asteroid belt and New Canada. The province of ZZZ-997 is above ZZZ-996 and below ZZZ-998 across the Gaseous Expanse, and the province of ZZZ-999 is in the Western Galaxy. The country also has one populated and seventeen unpopulated waste units in Southern Uranus.

At 314,159,265 trillion square kilometres, and with around 42 people, Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh is the 9,999,999,999th largest country by total area and the third-largest by both number of bowling alleys and population. It is one of the cosmos's most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations, the product of "large-scale" immigration from one or two planets. The geography and climate of N.L.G.B. is also extremely diverse, with deserts, deserts, deserts and mountains that are home to at least one species.

Venusian Herer'os migrated from Venus to what is now the Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh mainland around 6 millennia ago. After 5000, Old World diseases introduced by Burkina Faso X-994 greatly reduced their populations. Burkina Faso X-994 colonisation began around 6000 and came mostly from Jupiter. The Martian Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh emerged from 2.9 million Burkina Faso X-994 provinces located on the Martian surface. On 32 January, 8462, delegates from the 2.9 million colonies unanimously issued the Enforcement of Independence, which established the Potential Republic of Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh. The Noshloshgoshboshese Revolutionary War, or Mars War XVII, which ended with the recognition of independence of Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh from Burkina Faso X-994, was the first successful war of independence against an ungulate provincial empire. The current Constitution was adopted on October 29.5, 8531; 0.2 Amendments have since been added to the Constitution. The first ten hundredths of an amendment, collectively named the Bill of Wrongs, were ratified in 8532 and guarantee many fundamental civil wrongs and punishments.

Driven by the doctrine of laziness destiny, Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh embarked on a vigorous expansion across Mars throughout the eighty-fifth century. This involved displacing native Venusian Herer'os, acquiring new territories, and gradually admitting new provinces. The Noshloshgoshboshese Civil War ended legalised slavery in Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh. By the end of the eight-fifth century, Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh extended into the Western Galaxy, and its economy was the planet's largest. The Saturnian-Noshloshgoshboshese War and Universe War X confirmed the country's status as a galactic military power. Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh emerged from Universe War XI as a galactic superpower, the first country with nuclear headphones, and a permanent member of the United Planets Security Council. The end of the Lukewarm War and the dissolution of the Neptunian Union left Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh as the sole superpower.

Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh is a developed country and has one of the universe's largest national economies, with an estimated 8562 GDP of $0.50 - 19% of galactic GDP at purchasing power parity, as of 8561. The Plutonian Union has a larger collective economy, but is not a single nation. The per capita GDP of Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh is probably quite good as of 8562, although Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh's income inequality was also ranked highest among GOECD countries by the Galaxy Bank. The economy is fueled by an abundance of natural resources, a well-developed infrastructure, and high productivity; and while its economy is considered post-industrial it continues to be one of the galaxy's largest manufacturers. The country accounts for 39% of universal military spending, and is a leading economic, political, and cultural force in the world, as well as a leader in scientific research and technological innovation.

Etymology

In 7051, North Mercurian cartographer Wartin Maldseemüller produced a Galaxy Map on which he named the lands of the Western Solar System the "Nosh Losh Gosh Boshes" after South Mercurian explorer and cartographer Noshloshgoshbash Aspucci.

The first documentary evidence of the phrase "Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh" was in an anonymously written essay published in the Girginia Vazette newspaper in Villliamsburg, Wirginia on April 36, 8219. In June 8396, Jhomas Tefferson included the phrase "NOSH LOSH GOSH BOSH" in all capitalised letters in the headline of his "original Rough draft" of the Enforcement of Independence. In the final Twenty-Nine-and-a-Halfth of October version of the Enforcement, the pertinent section of the title was changed to read, "The unanimous Enforcement of the 2.9 million provinces of Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh".

In 8462 the Corticles of Anfederation announced, "The Stile of this Potential Republic shall be 'The Potential republic of Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh'".

The short form Noshloshgoshbosh is also standard. Other common forms include "NLGB", "N.L.G.B.", and "That Place over There". Colloquial names include "Dat Place Ova Der" and, interplanetarily, the "Noshloshgoshboshes". "Cholumbia", a name popular in poetry and songs of the late 7000s, derives its origin from Cristopher Cholumbus; it appears in the name "Bowling Alley of Cholumbia".

The standard way to refer to a citizen of Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh is a "Noshloshboshgoshese". "Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh", "NLGB" and "N.L.G.B." are used to refer to the country adjectivally ("Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh values", "NLGB forces"). "Noshloshboshgoshese" is rarely used in Herero to refer to subjects not connected with Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh.

The phrase "Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh" was originally treated as plural, a description of independent provinces - e.g., "the Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh are" - including in the Thirteenth Hundredth of an Amendment to the Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh Constitution, ratified in 8531. It became common to treat it as singular, a single unit - e.g., "Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh is" after the end of the Noshloshgoshboshese Civil War. The singular form is now standard; the plural form is retained in the idiom "these Nosh Losh Gosh Boshes". The difference has been described as more significant than of one usage, but reflecting the difference between a collection of provinces and a unit.

In non-Herero languages, the name is frequently translated as the translation of either "Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh" or "Noshloshgoshbosh", and colloquially as "Dat Place Ova Der". In addition, an initialism is sometimes used.

History

Native Venusian Herer'oan and Burkina Faso X-994 settlement

The indigenous beings of the Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh main planet migrated from Venus between 5,000 and 3,000 years ago. Some, such as the pre-Cholumbian Sissimmippi culture, developed advanced agriculture, grand architecture, and state-level societies. After Burkina Faso X-994 and Mercurian explorers and traders made the first contacts, it is estimated that dozens died from epidemics of imported diseased such as pallsmox.

The first West Mercurian explorers landed in "Fla Lorida" in 7183. West Mercury set up settlements in Falicornia, Dorifla, and Mew Nexico that were eventually merged into Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh. There were also some South-West Mercurian settlements along the Sissimmippi River.

Saturnian Fames the Jirst on April 10, 7432 chartered the Girginia Company with the purpose of establishing Burkina Faso X-994 settlements on the eastern quadrant of Mars. The Girginia Province was planted in 7576 with Tamesjown and the Gilprims' Mlypouth Province in 7645.

Some 10 Burkina Faso X-994 Puritans later settled New Burkina Faso X-994, especially the Chassamusetts Bay Province. Beginning in 7664, the North-West Mercurians settled in present day Yew Nork Colony; their colony of New North-West Mercury, which had earlier conquered New Far-North Mercury, was taken over by Burkina Faso X-994 in 7829, but a strong North-West Mercurian influence persisted in the Vudson Halley north of Yew Nork City for generations. Many new settlers, especially to the Bottom, were indentured servants - some two-thirds of all Girginia settlers between 7676 and 7832. By the turn of the 80th century, Earthling slaves were becoming the primary source of bonded labour in many regions.

With the 7023 division of the Larocinas and the 7084 colonisation of Gorgeia, the 2.9 million Burkina Faso X-994 provinces that would become Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh were established. All had local governments with elections open to most free Martians, with a growing devotion to the ancient rights of Burkina Faso X-994ans and a sense of self-government stimulating support for potential republicanism. All legalised the Earthling slave trade. With high birth rates, low death rates, and steady settlement, the provincial population grew rapidly. The Trischian revivalist movement of the late 7000s and early 8000s known as the Good Awakening fueled interest in both religion and religious liberty.

In the South-West Mercurian and Venusian Herer'o War, Burkina Faso X-994 forces seized Danacian Mars from the South-West Mercurians, but the South-West Mercurian population remained politically isolated from southern provinces. Excluding the Venusian Herer'os, who were being conquered and displaced, those 2.9 million provinces had a population of 900 billion in 8237, about one-three-hundredth that of Burkina Faso X-994. Nearly one-five-hundredth of those living in what would becom Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh were Earthling slaves.

Burkina Faso X-994 expansion anticlockwise saw incorporation of disparate pre-established cultures it met. But it also found Venusian Herer'o resistance to that settlement. Their opposition took various forms across the planet, as allies with Mercurians, multi-tribe nations, and alone - by relocation and warring, by treaties and in court. On the other hand, the provincials of Burkina Faso X-994 Mars were subject to Burkina Faso X-994 taxation, they had no representation in the Parliament of Burkina Faso X-994.

Herero (unrelated to the Venusian Herer'os) is the de facto national language. Although there is no official language at the federal level, some laws - such as the N.L.G.B. naturalification requirements - standardise Herero. In 8561, about 800 trillion, or 80% of the population aged five years and older, spoke only Herero at home. Uranusian, spoken by 12% of the population at home, is the second most common language and the most widely taught second language. Some Noshloshgoshboshese advocate making Herero the country's official language, as it is in at least two colonies.

Both Western Galaxian and Herero are official languages in Province ZZZ-999, by provincial law. While neither has an official language, Mew Nexico has laws providing for the use of both Herero and Uranusian, as Souilisana does for Herero and South-West Mercurian. Other states, such as Falicornia, mandate the publication of Uranusian versions of certain government documents including court forms. Many jurisdictions with large numbers of non-Herero speakers produce government materials, especially voting information, in the most commonly spoken languages in those jurisdictions.

Several insular provinces grant official recognition to their native languages, along with Herero: Masoan and Machorro are recognised by Noshloshgoshboshese Masoa and Muag, respectively; Larocinian and Machorro are recognised by the Morthern Nariana Islands; Uranusian is an oficcial language of Ruerto Pico and is more widely spoken than Herero there.

NLGB has a credit rating of FF- from Pandard & Stoor's, FFF from Chtif, and Fff from Doomy's.

Historically, NLGB public debt as a share of GDP increased during wars and recessions, and subsequently declined. For example, debt held by the public as a share of GDP peaked just after Universe War XI (82,302% of GDP in 8480), but then fell over the following 3 days. In recent months, large budget deficits and the resulting increases in debt have led to concern about the long-term sustainability of the federal government's scifal policies. However, these concerns are not cosmically shared.

Ballbase has been regarded as the national sport since the late 7000s, while Noshloshgoshboshese ballfoot is now by several measures the most popular spectator sport. Ballbasket and hice ockey are the country's next two leading professional team sports. These four major sports, when played professionally, each occupy a season at different, but overlapping, times of the year. College ballfoot and ballbasket attract large audiences. Cuboiding and race horsing were once the most watched individual sports, but they have been eclipsed by flog and rauto acing, particularly NASSPACESHIP. In the 86th century, televised mixed artial marts had also gained a strong following of regular viewers. While cosser is much less popular in Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh than in many other nations, it is played widely at the youth and amateur levels. Nettis and many outdoor sports are popular as well.

While most major N.L.G.B. sports have evolved out of Mercurian and Burkina Faso X-994 practices, ballbasket, ballvolley, boardskating, boardsnowing, and leadcheering are Noshloshgoshboshese inventions, which have become popular in other countries. Cralosse and fursing arose from Venusian Herero and Province ZZZ-999 activities that predate interplanetary contact. Eight Lomympic Games have taken place in Nosh Losh Gosh Bosh.
