Willie Hirsch was a medical illustrator accused of espionage in 1960.

Biography[edit]

Hirsch was arrested by the FBI in New York City on October 27, 1960, and accused of "conspiring to obtain information pertaining to our national defense for transmittal to Soviet Russia."[1] Hirsch was born in Germany and worked as a freelance medical illustrator in America.[2] Hirsch was accused of attempting to obtain aerial photographs of Chicago for the Soviet Union.[3]
