Ramy Najmeddine

Background

Born in 1977 in Melbourne Australia, his family migrated to Australia in the mid 1970s escaping the civil war in Lebanon. He is a Sharif, his family descends from the Islamic Prophet Muhammad from his grandson Imam Hasan ibn Ali.

Education

During his travels to the Islamic world he studied under Habib Salem bin Abdullah bin Umar al-Shatiri at the al-Rubaat institute in Tarim; while also attending classes at the prestigious Dar al-Mustafa with the renowned Habib Umar bin Salem bin Hafidh and other local and international scholars from Sudan, Syria and Egypt who were teachers at Dar al-Mustafa. He then moved to Syria and attended public classes for international students with the respected Shaykh Mohammad al-Ya’qoubi at masjid Muhyi-uddin Ibn Arabi in Damascus, studying portions of Imam Al-Qushayri’s book; al-Risala Al-Qushayriya.

He had the privilege of attending classes with Shaykh Mufti Mohamed Akhtar Rida Khan al-Qadiri al-Azhari, Shaykh Mohamed Ilyas al-Ataar al-Qadiri al-Ridwiy, Shaykh Mohammed Abdul Hakeem Sharaf Al-Qadiri, who were scholars from India and the Pakistani sub-continent. He has received few general Ijaazas; i.e. traditional certification and transmission from his teachers. He also holds a Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in Sound Production from Melbourne Polytechnic.

Career

He is a religious public figure well known mostly in South East Asia, particularly Indonesia where he has spent over 13 years visiting in the cause of Islam and dawah; calling towards peace, unity, love and personal human development. He has delivered Khutbah Jumu’ah [Friday Sermons] at several Masjid’s throughout Jakarta like Masjid Abu Bakr Ashshiddiq in Jakarta & Masjid Aliyah in Karawang to name a few.

Sheikh Ramy Najmeddine has also delivered talks at many Islamic educational institutions, public high schools, orphanages and many local gatherings attended by thousands of people. His appearance schedule has extended throughout Jakarta, greater Jakarta surrounding areas and other cities in West Java like Purwakarta and Bandung including Malang in East Java. He has appeared in Jakarta’s Noor Magazine discussing the importance of knowledge for a successful dunya and hereafter, and was also interviewed by Mi’raj News Agency in Jakarta several times.

Loving The Prophet Muhammad was the theme of Sheikh Ramy Najmeddine’s 2014 Indonesia tour which began in Jakarta and traveled through other cities like Purwakarta and Bandung. The extremely tight tour schedule had the sheikh booked to speak at various Masjids, Islamic Boarding Schools, Radio Stations, High Schools and much more. Sheikh Ramy Najmeddine was even invited to speak alongside KH. Abdullah Gymnastiar; which was broadcast on MQTV and MQFM throughout Indonesia.

He has served the community in many facets as a khateeb delivering Friday sermons, an Imam leading prayers, and in grassroots level mediating marriage counseling sessions, victims of domestic vilence, interfaith events and youth leadership workshops. He has also served on the Victoria Police Multi-faith Advisory Board representing the Muslim community in Victoria on many community issues, while also being one of the several contact persons within the Muslim community for the Australian Federal Police [AFP] during that time.

He is also a skilled audio engineer and producer who has worked as a sound designer and audio mixer on an Australian feature film 'This Little Piggy' directed by Tristan Barr of Flemhouse Productions which was nominated for Best Feature in L.A. Film Review 2015 and the International Film Festival 2015.

Charity

He is the founder of a Australian based charity Humanitarian Hearts Inc. that assists orphans and the less fortunate in Indonesia and Sri Lanka and expanding its work locally in Australia.
