Omar Majeed (born February 9th 1984) is an English Poet, Artist, and Musician. He was among ten young people awarded the Foyle Young Poet of the Year in 20021, for his poem "Four Vomits" as selected by Matthew Sweeney; and is the author of five self-published books to date, put out on his own imprint Desk Publishing (previously Gravity Publishing). Omar spent many years making zines, including 'Gravity', 'SCree'(sic), and currently 'Gilded/edge'. He is also a founding member of the outsider punk band Jazz Mags, in which he sings, and plays keys and clarinet. He lives in Hereford, West Midlands. He has lived his adult life with Bipolar disorder, for which he has needed hospitalisation five times. He is Founding Director of DIY street wear label "Le Shit Skate Co". He has a Masters in Fine Art from Hereford College of Art, a degree in Graphic Design from Kingston University, and a Foundation Degree in Photography from Hereford College of Art*. He attended Hereford Cathedral School and Sixth Form with an academic scholarship, where he was awarded a General Form Prize, the Barnes Poetry prize, and half colours for arts; and prior to that was a pupil of St Thomas Cantelupe School, also in Hereford.
