occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from November 1955 and lasted until 1973. By the end of the war, the US "military [was] demoralized and its civilian electorate deeply divided, [and it] began a process of coming to terms with defeat in its longest and most controversial war .[1] There were 58,159 U.S. deaths.[2] War crimes were committed by both sides during the conflict and included rape, massacres of civilians, bombings of civilian targets, terrorism, the widespread use of torture and the murder of prisoners of war.[3]
