The Area of Old Carved Stone in Sapa
The area of Old carved stone in Sapa is a historical site in Sapa, Lao Cai. Covering an area of 8 km2 in Muong Hoa(Mường Hoa) valley, the area extend over three communes of Hau Thao(Hầu Thào), Su Pan (Sử Pán) and Ta Van (Tả Van). First discovery of this site dated from 1925 when a Russian-originated French named Galupev, a professor of French School of the Far East, explored this area. Today, the area is one of some tourism destinations in Sapa. It was listed as a tentative World Heritage site in 1997.
