The synopsis for The Knight's Tale is wrong. This film has little to do with Chaucer's poem beyond the name. It is closer to the twelfth and thirteenth-century William Marshall, the first Earl of Pembroke, whose biography, written shiortly after his death, described among other things his life as an itinerant knight compoeting in tournaments.
