The Sands Express was a temporary light railway system built and operated in 1911 along the promenade at Blackpool, in the United Kingdom. It was used to transport sand from the south end of the promenade to the northern end in order to extend the promenade around the town's Metropole Hotel. In use for less than a year, it allowed the task to be completed quickly but was highly unpopular with local residents because of the noise and smoke produced by the system's steam locomotives working all night and day.
